Plan Your Visit
A pilgrim’s guide to the hill.
A short, practical guide for first-time visitors to Ambajidurga — when to come, what to bring, and how to walk the hill.
Best time to visit
October through February are the most comfortable months. On any day, mornings between 6 and 10 are the loveliest — the air is cool, the sun is soft, and the view from the summit stretches for miles. Pournami evenings are special.
What to carry
- Comfortable footwear with grip — the path is rocky.
- A water bottle, even though water is available at the temple.
- A light shawl or cap for sun and wind on the summit.
- Flowers, vibhuti or kumkum if you wish to offer.
A suggested order of darshan
- Begin at Sri Dustasamhara Veeranjaneya Swamy temple on the slope.
- Walk up to the Naga sannidhi.
- Continue to the new temple of Goddess Durga.
- Climb to the summit for Sri Ambojeshwara and the Yenne Kanija.
- Return for Anna Dasoha at the kotadi by the Veeranjaneya temple.
Entry cutoff
Entry to the hill is strictly prohibited after 5:30 PM. Please begin your climb early enough to complete darshan and leave the hill before the cutoff time.
Trekking & fort permissions
All legal aspects related to allowing trekking, access up to the fort, and related permissions on Ambajidurga hill are completely managed by the Chikkaballapur Youth Association.
